The Start Of Something New!



We decided to go a little crazy in the kitchen today! We were really craving some egg rolls, but midway through the egg roll prep we found some sweet potatoes and thus the fry chopping began. But you can't have fries without some burgers right? So here comes some salmon patties fresh off the grill. We had fun getting down in the kitchen today and even threw in a fennel cranberry salad to finish it off. 

Although some may not like to cook, having fun in the kitchen always makes the task more  enjoyable. Whenever us sisters get in the kitchen it is always a good time, seems more like a fun past time than a so called "job". Whenever you get cooking, get a partner in there with you and see how much fun you have :). 


We caught the "fitness bug", which is what inspired today's food shenanigans and us wanting to eat a lot better. NO! we are not health crazy and yes we do cheat sometimes but you have to start somewhere and work your way up. Below are the recipes we prepared today, so go ahead and see what you can cook up!!:) 

**Substitute For Whatever You Desire** 

Egg Roll Recipe:
  • A whole cabbage chopped
  • 1/2c cilantro (chopped)
  • 1 red onion (chopped)
  • 8 carrots ( grated)
  • 1/3c green onion (chopped)
  • 1/2c Onion (chopped)
  • Egg Roll wrappers (the skin)
  • Seasoning to taste (salt, pepper, garlic etc...)
Sauté on low with a little bit of olive oil. Season to taste and then use the veggie mix to stuff pre-cut egg roll skins. 

Sweet Potato Fries:
  • 3 sweet potatoes (peeled & chopped)
  • 1 tbsp of Olive Oil
  • Seasoning to taste (salt, pepper, cinnamon, etc...)
Bake in oven at 350 for 35-40min.

Salmon Patties:
  • 3 Cans of (canned in water) Salmon
  • 1/2c cilantro (chopped)
  • 1/2 red onion chopped
  • 1/2 yellow onion chopped
  • 1/4c green onions
  • 1/2c bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • Seasoning to taste (salt, pepper, garlic etc...)

Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Form 6-8 patties into a ball (no bigger then your palm). Cook on skillet for 5 mins each side then flip.
